Welcome

A warm welcome to the most picturesque part of the Costa Brava - we think so anyway ! We’re sure you will as well.

Our villa is set on a hillside overlooking the small town of Calonge in the north - east part of Spain, known as the Costa Brava and is approx 1 hour north of Barcelona city centre.

The villa, with its stunning views and private pool, comprises 3 bedrooms:- a master bedroom with en-suite, 2 double bedrooms with twin beds and a pull out bed in each, a family sized bathroom with bath and shower, lounge / dining room with doors leading to terrace, open fireplace, a double sofa bed settee, freesat sky TV, DVD player, kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine, small breakfast table. The villa also has the luxury of full central heating. A cot and highchair are available on request.

A private outdoor pool (8m x 4m) can be enjoyed from May to October (although the children are much braver and have been swimming in early April !). Lots of outside space beside the pool, two terraces, an ‘al fresco’ dining area to enjoy those balmy evenings for dinner and also a large upper sun terrace. There is a large sandpit area for the children.

The Location

The Costa Brava is quite simply ‘beautiful’ at any time of the year. During the winter you can enjoy the numerous ski resorts in the Pyrenees, which is only 1.5 hour drive away. Summer is for either relaxing by the pool or exploring the beautiful coastline and beaches of which there are too many to mention, ranging from wide sandy bays to secluded pine clad coves. The local area is great for the outdoor life... walking, running, cycling, canyoning, trekking, mountaineering, parachuting, paragliding, hot air ballooning, sub aqua, golf and horseback riding. Not forgetting the Grand Prix enhthusiats who want to experience the Formula 1 Grand Prix in May or the World Rally Championships in October.

Our villa is located a short 5 minute walk from the small village of Calonge, situated at the foot of the Gavarres hills and only 4 km from the sea. Calonge has an interesting old centre with a maze of streets and alleys leading to the medieval castle of the Duchess of Medina la Torre. Each Easter you can enjoy the medieval market and in July and August there is the well known classical music festival. The local area around Calonge produces excellent wines and not too far away is, Penedes, Catalonia's premier wine region and the home of Cava, a sparkling wine.

Two kilometres from Calonge is Sant Antoni de Calonge, set in the middle of a wide sandy bay. It’s great for sailing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and has numerous activity schools for lessons and hire of equipment. At the end of the bay is Palamos, a busy fishing port and marina. Great restaurants and tapas bars to enjoy any time of year and famous for ‘Menu de la Gamba’, the Palamos prawns. At the other end of the bay is Platja d’Aro, a bustling resort with shops, lively bars and lots of restaurants. Perfect for children to enjoy the amusement parks and of course the ‘Aqua Park’!

A 30 minute drive away is the provincial capital of Girona. Its great for shopping, museums, ancient buildings, monuments, churches and markets. Drive a little bit further past Girona and you will find Figueres, birthplace of Salvador Dali and home to the major artists museums. An hour by car or train is Barcelona. This is one of our favourite cities with so much to see and do, full of great spectacular architectural treasure's from Gaudi and home to the 1992 Olympic games. Las Ramblas, the most famous street in Spain is alive all hours of the day and night. Why not go and see a game of footy or take a tour of the Camp Nou stadium, home of Barcelona FC - a must see for footy fans !
